Identification and Selection of Beneficiaries under PM Awas Yojana
• The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) plan
deals mainly with the housing requirements of the urban poor. The scheme also
satisfies the housing requirements of slum dwellers residing in confined slum
areas with inadequate infrastructure, poor sanitation facilities, and portable
water.
• The beneficiaries of PM Awas Yojana (U) include mainly the middle-income groups (MIG),
the low-income groups (LIG) and the economically-weaker section (EWS). While
the annual income for beneficiaries of the EWS category is limited to Rs.3
lakh, the annual income of the LIG and MIG beneficiaries can vary between
Rs.3-6 lakh and Rs.6-18 lakh respectively.
• While beneficiaries of the EWS category are
eligible to receive full assistance under the scheme, beneficiaries of the LIG
and LIG categories are only eligible for the Credit-Linked Subsidy Plan (CLSS)
under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
• To be recognized as a beneficiary of LIG or EWS
under the Plan, the applicant must submit an affidavit as proof of income to
the authority.

Objectives of the PMAY Scheme
PMAY
|According to recent estimates, as of September 2016, the population of urban
dwellers in India has increased at an alarming rate and further growth is
expected in the coming years. It is said that by 2050, the population of urban
dwellings will rise to 814 million people. The predicted calculation is almost
double the number that already resides in urban areas. The main challenges also
include providing people with affordable housing options and other important
related concerns, such as sanitation and sustainable development. The Ministry
must also guarantee a sustainable and safe environment for the urban
population.
• The main objective of the PM Awas Yojana plan is for housing to be affordable for all by the year 2022.
• It also intends to make it accessible to specific
demographic data, such as groups with economic difficulties, women, and people
belonging to minorities such as Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
• The other government objective is directly
associated with some of the most ignored demographic data, which include
widows, members of lower-income groups, transgender people and, from now on,
provide them with a sustainable and affordable housing plan.
• The special preferences for the properties of the ground floor will be granted to elderly people and with different disabilities
if necessary.
• Registration is mandatory to take advantage of the
benefits of this PMAY scheme, which
includes the strict names of beneficiaries as mothers or wives.
The launch of this scheme is intended for urban
areas of the following options for the states or territories of the Union, as
well as for cities, as mentioned above.
Eligibility criteria for the PMAY scheme 2020
The government will use 2011 Socioeconomic and
Caste Census (SECC 2011) to identify and select the PMAY beneficiary list. The
village panchayats together with the tehsils will be considered for the
beneficiary consultation before making the list under the rural housing scheme.
This will be done to ensure the transparency of the project and also ensure
that only those who deserve it receive housing assistance.

lakh to Rs.18 lakh can request the PM
Awas Yojana. The applicant is allowed to include the spouse's income while
